Halfway to Sarrail
Not every summit is meant to be reached.
This piece was inspired by one of the first bigger mountains I ever hiked (Mount Sarrail.) I only made it halfway. The exposure got to me, and fear of heights won that day. But standing there, facing that massive rock wall, I realized something: you don’t have to reach the top for a mountain to change you. The scale, the texture, the silence. It was enough.
I carved this print to honour that moment. The pause. The humility. The beauty that exists even when you stop short of the summit.
Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
