Hornby Kelp
Sometimes it’s the smallest things that stop you in your tracks.
While walking along Tribune Beach on Hornby Island, I came across a single piece of kelp washed ashore. Its shape felt sculptural, almost deliberate. The texture was rippled, worn, and layered. It caught the light in a way I couldn’t ignore. I stood there longer than expected, studying something most people might step over.
I carved this piece to honour that pause. The beauty in what the tide leaves behind. The quiet details that feel fleeting but stay with you long after.
Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
