Hornby Otter
Some arrivals come with a welcome.
When I first got to Hornby Island, one of the first beings I saw was an otter bobbing through Ford Harbour. Calm, curious, completely at home in the water. It felt like a quiet introduction, like the island announcing itself in its own way.
Watching them move so effortlessly through the harbour stuck with me. I carved this piece to hold onto that feeling of arrival — of being greeted by something wild and alive before the rest of the trip even began.
Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
