Small, but essential.

This print was created for HerringFest. A show centred around the conservation of Pacific herring. Though they’re small, herring are a keystone species. Their return feeds entire ecosystems: marine birds diving from above, whales moving through coastal waters, salmon continuing their journeys, and the ocean flora thriving beneath it all.

I carved this piece to honour that interconnectedness. The way one small life can sustain so many others. It’s a reminder that what seems insignificant often holds everything together.

Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
