Hornby Sandstone

The ocean is always rewriting the shoreline.

On Hornby Island, I found myself drawn to a top-down view of sandstone carved deeply by the tides. Beside it lay a log, its bark completely stripped away by the waves. Both shaped by the same water, both altered in different ways.

I carved this piece as a study of change — how the ocean quietly transforms everything it touches. There was something grounding about it. A reminder that erosion isn’t destruction, but evolution. That time leaves its mark, and that mark can be beautiful.

Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
