Ode to Resilience
Winter doesn’t ask permission.
This print was inspired by two magpies perched in a tree, braving a Calgary winter. In a city where magpies are constant companions, it’s hard not to admire them soaring through biting winds, enduring freezing temperatures, and somehow continuing on as if it’s simply part of the rhythm.
There’s something grounding about watching them. A reminder that resilience isn’t loud. It’s showing up. It’s surviving the cold. It’s trusting that another season is coming.
I carved this piece as a tribute to that endurance to the beings who thrive where others might falter.
Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
