Pai on Nassau
Some streets have their own guardians.
This print is of Pai, a black cat who roams Nassau Street in Toronto. Though he doesn’t have a single owner, the whole street looks after him, and everyone knows his name. I met him while visiting a close friend, and he quickly became the highlight of that trip. A living symbol of community, care, and independence.
The experience also carried a sense of liberation for me: living between coffee, art, and city life, following my own rhythm. I carved this piece to hold onto that memory, and the way Toronto’s energy is both lively and welcoming and lingers long after you leave.
Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
