Picking Cattails
Some memories grow tall.
This print is dedicated to my grandpa. I remember the long drives where we’d pull over on the side of the road to pick cattails, wandering through the tall grass together. Birds would call and flutter nearby, and I’d ask him, “What kind of bird is that?” Those small moments of learning, exploring, and simply being stayed with me.
I carved this piece to honour those times. The blackbird hanging among the cattails is a nod to curiosity, discovery, and the quiet ways family shapes us.
Each print is hand-carved and hand-pressed in my Calgary home studio. Because every piece is printed by hand, subtle variations in ink and pressure make each one uniquely its own.
